Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project Update
According to Ninh Thuan Provincial reports, the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project received National Assembly investment approval under Resolution 41/2009/QH12 dated November 25, 2009. The planning designates:
- Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant 1 in Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district
- Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant 2 in Vinh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district
- Total planned area: 1,642.22 hectares affecting nearly 4,000 people from 1,100 households
The province approved stabilization schemes for production, livelihoods, and residential development in previously planned nuclear plant areas, implementing land conversion planning while maintaining strategic positions for future nuclear plant restart when required.
Following the nuclear power restart policy, provincial authorities conducted extensive public awareness campaigns, achieving strong public support and consensus for the state policy.
Technical Specifications
Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant 1 features:
- 4 reactor units with 1,000-1,200 MW capacity each
- Two-phase implementation (2 units per phase)
- Total land area: 443.11 hectares (onshore)
Leadership Directives
Party General Secretary To Lam instructed Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee to expedite project procedures, site clearance, and report to the Government for approval and capital allocation, ensuring timeline adherence and effectiveness. He emphasized immediate implementation once adequate resources are secured.
Phuoc Dinh Kindergarten Groundbreaking
At Phuoc Dinh commune, Thuan Nam district, the delegation attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the multi-purpose training facility and auxiliary infrastructure at Phuoc Dinh Kindergarten (Son Hai 1 hamlet) - a specially disadvantaged coastal commune.
School Development Details:
- Established: 2017
- National Standard Level 1: Achieved 2018
- Current facilities: 9 classrooms serving 250+ students
- Upgrade requirements: Additional infrastructure for National Standard Level 2
The 12 billion VND investment gift from the Party General Secretary includes:
- 4-classroom multi-purpose building
- Auxiliary facilities and educational equipment
- Enhanced learning conditions and expanded enrollment capacity
- Quality improvement for early childhood education
Ca Na Comprehensive Port Inspection
The Central delegation conducted field inspections at Ca Na Comprehensive Port (Phuoc Diem commune, Thuan Nam district), located in Ca Na waters, west of Cape Sung Trau, at the Ninh Thuan-Binh Thuan provincial border.
Strategic Port Significance:
Ca Na Comprehensive Port serves as a crucial cargo transshipment hub in the South Central Coast region, relieving pressure from Southeast Vietnam ports and Ho Chi Minh City while driving sustainable economic growth in Ninh Thuan's southern key economic zone.
Port Infrastructure:
- Developer: Trung Nam Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company
- Total planned area: Over 85.5 hectares
- Facilities: 2 terminals for general cargo, containers, and bulk commodities
- Capacity: 25 berths
- Operational since: April 2022 (Phase I)
Bau Truc Pottery Village Cultural Visit
The delegation visited Bau Truc Pottery Village (Phuoc Dan town, Ninh Phuoc district), one of Southeast Asia's oldest craft villages preserving traditional Cham handmade pottery techniques.
UNESCO Recognition:
In 2022, UNESCO inscribed "Cham Pottery Art" on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding - Vietnam's 15th UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage.
At the community house, Party General Secretary To Lam observed artisans crafting pottery and enjoyed distinctive Cham cultural performances showcasing village traditions.
Community Welfare Initiative
Party General Secretary To Lam presented gifts to 20 policy beneficiary families and poor households in Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan province, demonstrating central leadership's commitment to local welfare.
